Women’s basketball set for first Big 12 Tournament matchup against Kansas

UCF women’s basketball will play its first game in the Big 12 Tournament against the University of Kansas Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Kansas City at the T-Mobile Center. The Big 12 tournament begins on Wednesday with bottom-seed teams playing the opening round. The top five seeds earned an automatic bye to the quarterfinals, and seeds 5-8 earned a bye to the second round.

Kansas State University clawed a 93-67 victory from UCF women's basketball Wednesday, tacking an eighth defeat onto the Knights' losing streak.The defeat at Addition Financial Arena marked the Knights' 13th loss against a conference opponent, compared to just two conference wins.

The UCF women's basketball team fought hard Saturday afternoon but suffered another conference loss of 67-50 against the No. 9-ranked TCU at the Addition Financial Arena.The Knights (10-10, 2-7 Big 12) took the lead of 9-5 in the first quarter when sophomore forward Mahogany Chandler-Roberts scored four points with 4:50 left in the quarter.

UCF's Mediation Team builds bonds and skills for students downtown

Tears welled up in Kelly Strom's eyes as she acted as a movie star with lupus during one of UCF's Mediation Team tournaments last year. Strom, senior legal studies major, played the role of a client who was being defamed for using drugs when she was taking medication for her illness. She won that round of the tournament because of the act she pulled off, which she said was the most rewarding experience. The engineering building was filled with the sounds of laptop keyboards clicking because of the first Knight Hacks hackathon UCF has hosted since 2019.Knight Hacks, a computer science based club, organized this year's hackathon where students from UCF and around the country, had 36 hours to code anything they wanted from Oct. 6 to Oct. 8, said Mark Bruckert, Knight Hacks vice president.
